The Bold and the Beautiful
V.I.P. Party
October 4, 1994

Yvonne and I got the opportunity to see Bobbie and Jeff again later that year 1994 to be exactly on October 4, 1994 when their recordcompany Arcade together with Radio 10 Gold organized a V.I.P party in the Breughelhuys in Amsterdam. That same night both would receive a platinum CD for the sales of 200.000 copies of their album "Bold and Beautiful Duets".
From the moment Yvonne told me that we were invited, the waiting started. We had never been at a party like that before by then, so we were very excited about it! Finally it became Tuesday. It didn’t seem to stop raining that day and it was pretty cold. Yvonne and I met each other at the train station in the center of Amsterdam. After a walk we saw a sign with "Renaissance Hotel" and the "Breugelhuys" which laid next to the hotel.
In front of the Breughelhuys, people stood making music to get us in the right mood already. We went inside and took our presents for Bobbie and Jeff with us. We hoped we would be able to give them these later that evening.
Of course, we were too early and decided to have a drink first. Downstairs was a little stage with two carton "stand-ups". One of Bobbie and Jeff together and one of the cover of the CD "Bold and Beautiful X-mas". Unfortunately we couldn’t find a way to take these boards with us.
The first performing artist of that evening was Matthijs Koene, who played the pamphlet. The boy was only 17 years old then, but I was very impressed by his performance. It was great. But no matter how much applause he got, everybody waited for Bobbie and Jeff. They arrived around 11 PM. They did two songs "What’s Forever For" and "Love To Love You In The Morning".

After their performance the director of Arcade presented CD the platinum to them. Then they went downstairs in the Breugelhuys to relax a bit. We tried to get there as well (as others did), but didn’t succeed at first. However, we didn’t give up and as the crowd got a little "thinner" we gave it another try and, thanks to Ilse from Arcade, we came through. In the back, there were lights and photos were taken. Then we saw Jeff who greeted us like old friends just like Bobbie did some time later. Yvonne gave them their gifts for the platinum CD, a book about Holland and I had a special present with me for Bobbie as well, a clown I made myself. I hope she liked it, I had never heard a word about it anymore and there was no time to unwrap everything during that evening.
When Yvonne came to me afterwards, we talked to Richard de Bois for a minute. He gave us his compliments for the first newsletter, like Jeff did before. That means so much to us! In the meantime, it was after midnight – Bobbie and Jeff and company were already gone to their hotel – we decided to go to the station to try to catch the train to Den Haag. At the exit of the Breughelhuys we received the CD of Bobbie and Jeff and the first issue of the radio 10 Gold magazine. At around 2:30 a.m. we arrived at my place. Yvonne would spend the night at my home. We talked a bit, eated something and then went to our beds.

Yvonne and I tried to get up early that morning, but we didn’t succeed. Anyway, Yvonne went home around 1 o’clock and we met each other again that evening at the train station in Utrecht. We took a cab and when we arrived at the studios we saw the spotlights at the entrance and many V.I.P.’s.
Inside we got our tickets and waited in the hall. After a while we went inside, but god it was so extremely hot inside! I tried it for a few minutes and then said to Yvonne: "I’m leaving or you’ll find me laying on the floor here". So I went outside while Yvonne stayed inside. I took a chair (with a big glass orange juice) and watched the whole show on a monitor. Bobbie and Jeff sang "Love To Love You In The Morning" and afterwards the host had a brief talk with them. It was a little bit strange to hear that Jeff mentioned his birthday (the following day) and the concerts in Ahoy. He talked or they took place already. (The show was aired October 7) Afterwards they taped the last song of the evening, the chorus from "Love To Love You" with Bobbie and Jeff. So it really seems or nothing seems the way as it looks on TV!
After their performance Yvonne also left the studio and we took another cab to the station and went home.
Through circumstances (I hurt my leg in April, couldn’t walk then for weeks and all the standing of these two evenings weren’t the most ideal things for me to do) I missed the two Bold and the Beautiful concerts that year, but luckily I saw Bobbie and Jeff performing in 1995.
